A summer evening course on classical architecture in England

How did Greek, Roman and Renaissance architecture shape our environment over 400 years? Would you like to learn more about classical architecture in Britain? Join this course of ten meetings, tutored by Tim Bruce-Dick, architect, this summer term, 2010. Classes are informal and friendly and include several visits to buildings.

Monday 10 May: The ancient world and the early Renaissance.
Monday 17 May: Andrea Palladio and the later Renaissance.
Saturday 22 May: Day visit to Oxford.
Monday 24 May: The English Renaissance: from Inigo Jones to Nicholas Hawksmoor.
Monday 7 June: Italian and English gardens.
Monday 14 June: The 18th century Palladian revival.
Monday 21 June: The 19th century: Soane vs Nash; Classical vs Gothic.
Saturday 3 June: Morning visit to the Soane Museum and walk to Somerset House.
Monday 5 June: The 20th century: from Lutyens to Terry.
Monday 12 June: Walk through the City of London.
