Atomium by André Waterkeyn

  • Saturday 1 May - we catch the Eurostar to Brussels Midi where we leave our bags (there are both manned and unmanned left-luggage facilities inside the station). We then zoom out to view the restored 1958 Atomium. After a Belgian lunch we take the Art Nouveau walk from Hotel Solvay via Musee Horta to the Horta Metro perusing a gaggle of Art Nouveau buildings en route. We return to Brussels Midi and take the train to Antwerp ‘an enigmatic place that effortlessly fuses history with red-hot fashion, cutting-edge culture and irrespressible style’, admire the amazing station, and check into our central hotel in time for dinner.
  • Sunday 2 May - after breakfast we stroll to the grote market, visiting Momu; the new fashion museum. Lunch at a very momo restaurant built out over the river Scheldt, afternoon free to visit Rubens house, or rummage in the fashion quarter.
  • Monday 3 May - we head out to the Richard Rogers law courts, Le Corbusier’s Maison Guiette and a fascinating pure Art Nouveau quarter. We then catch the train to Brussels to join the Eurostar home.

In these unpredictable times these programmes are subject to variation both in cost and content. The prices shown are accurate now and Tim will do his best to keep costs down; any notable variations will be discussed with the group before final amendments are made.
